Alone in Dark will be the last game "conventional" Atari

Former Global Head of Sony Computer Entertainment Studios, Phil Harrison, and will clarify what you want to do as president of Atari. The historic Atari does not work as it stands, does not leave the red and need a step by the "radical change". The solution, according to Harrison speaking to Gamasutra , is the digital distribution of games and social games, or whatever it is, Web 2.0 on consoles.

Apparently, Harrison has come too late to get their hands on Alone in the Dark, which is in late stage development will not touch a comma, but what is clear is that will be the last traditional Atari video game, if for we mean a blockbuster traditional high budget introduction and a story-knot-type outcome.

Shots are on the other side. He seeks to make games like LittleBigPlanet , which the community can create levels and share with everyone, or type Singstar, can upload your own songs and performances. Harrison was always a defender of the web 2.0 philosophy at Sony, but the Japanese did not see clear and missed the train. Now try to reach him, but Harrison, frustrated, left the company to unierse Atari, a company that will be difficult to revive without a good change of direction.

What has not clarified how he thinks Harrison is doing, because having the idea is fine, but carrying it out is another story. While LittleBigPlanet looks good, is not creating much excitement among the players. Sony has much work ahead of marketing ... and Atari Sony not ... Creating a community is not easy.

Finally, Harrison returns to delve into episodic games, which could be a way to pay for what you play, but I fear that the end will pay more for the same ...

Yes it is that you pay more for the episodic format? I so far all I've bought so Sam & Max, and the price of the entire season is less than what is usually paid by a AAA game (eg $ 50)

Will have to see how he does this new incarnation of Alone in the Dark. Personally I do not like survival horror type games (although Alone in the Dark 1 I liked a lot), but hopefully do well.

What I think they will do, at least in the long term, cutting up the game so that we end up paying more. What is the duration of a AAA game? ¿30 hours? If episodes last at least 30 hours for 60 euros, for my sake. The remaining content would consider "extra", but I am afraid we will lose out, as with the in-game advertising. I think they will get and will not ever lower ... I am a skeptic.

After leaving Sony, Phil Harrison says the recipe to revive Atari is to apply the philosophy of Web 2.0 to the consoles, that is, community, and focus on online distribution of video games and set aside the traditional. The new Alone in ...

Just a note ... LPB is not generating expectation? but in what world do you live? if every time sony makes a conference is as expected and the scene is jartan websites to hang vdeos and videos ...
Since then I think you should make a closer monitoring of conferences and exhibitions, without acrimony clear.

Boy, I track the shows that I can ... In fact I was at the PlayStation Day and saw it was a big game ...

I refer to the expectation that is causing people think it is a title that is not reaching the public good even though I mentioned Sony and again in his lectures. Whenever I do a survey of the most anticipated does not receive 2% of the vote. So I say they have much work ahead of marketing.

So I'm wrong, but do not give as much cane after the summer, I see that going to break.

    Rappel dixit.
