I took many years working in Internet and never, never seen a redesign that has managed to increase the audience. I mean a redesign without touching the way information is presented. In my opinion the design alone does not get raised or the audience or the benefits of a web.

The design should be as simple, affordable, attractive and, above all, accessible. It should not be a deterrent for people to enjoy at the top of the content. In general, if the user can access what you want in 3 clicks or less, they say that is accessible. The design of many web is not accessible and bogged several users (lets not distinguish well what link and what not, does not link the images, menus made in flash ...) The design should be oriented to the best user experience and not to feed the artistic ego of the designer.

The redesign also involve a blow to loyal patrons, those who know by heart the site. Suddenly, they find that the links were not where before. You seem to lack something. I love when I get the chance to use the new design or stay with the old. It's great. I was so used to Vandal as he was, now I find it hard to adapt. Maybe that's why right now I do not like the design very much. I'll leave some time before commenting in detail redesign.
